Cruises visiting Kayak Island, Alaska (United States)

A rough resemblance to the Inuit boat gave this island in the gulf of Alaska its name. Yet you will soon see that this place is far more complex than that. Cape Saint-Elias and its pyramidal rock provide absolutely breath-taking views. Kayak was the first contact between Europeans and the unexplored lands of Alaska when the expedition led by Vitus Bering landed there at the beginning of the 18th century. Uninhabited, with a lighthouse as its only human construction, Kayak island is above all a protected, wilderness area accessible to the rare few. The natural wildness of this remote land contributes to the renown of Chugach national forest.
