Driven by an ecumenical vision of the world's arts and cultures, passionate about the musics and spiritualities of the world, musician and reciter, Gérard Kurkdjian is the initiator of numerous creations in which the texts of the great mystical paths intersect with the musical traditions of the West and the East. His latest creation, Eau de Vie,( Water of Life) is a musical and poetic celebration of the sacred dimensions of water.
Gérard Kurkdjian is also an author, lecturer, radio programme producer and organiser of cultural conferences, as well as a recognised specialist in the sacred musics of the world. He has created and directed several major music festivals. He is one of the founders of the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, of which he was artistic director from its inception in 1994 to 2009.
He is currently artistic director of the Festival des Trois Rives - Tanger chante le monde.( Morocco)
Gérard Kurkdjian is the author of " Le Grand Livre des Musiques Sacrées du Monde" (The Great Book of the Sacred Musics of the World) ,the first anthology to bring together all the world's sacred music traditions in a single volume, and "Meditation Musicale" ( Musical Meditation).
In this book, in addition to a general reflection on the nature of music, he has devised an entirely original form of meditation, in which purely contemplative listening to the world's music becomes a veritable spiritual exercise.
He is also the author of a novel: Night Raga - Passion on the Ganges and two collections of poetry: Abeilles de l'Indicible (Bees of the unspeakable) and "L'Autre Monde" (The Other World).
